Store your jewelry in a clean, dry place away from direct sun exposure. Avoid long term exposure to humidity if possible. Storing jewelry in individual, air-tight plastic bags can help reduce or prevent the effects of this. Also storing them outside of a steamy bathroom, and removing jewelry when showering and swimming will prevent discoloration and tarnish.  Chlorine, salt water, skin and hair products such as body lotions, perfumes and creams can all react adversely with jewelry causing precious metals to tarnish and/or erode. It is advisable to apply any cosmetic products in advance of putting on jewelry. After each wear, it is recommended to wipe jewelry clean with a soft, dry, lint-free polishing cloth to remove any make-up or natural skin oils. When removed please make sure to keep all jewelry in separate pouches or boxes to prevent pieces rubbing and scratching against one another.
